Job Title/Position: Staff Accountant

Reports To: CFO

Job Description Summary

The Staff Accountant is responsible for maintaining financial procedures and confirming financial compliance through preparation of the Company’s financial reports and statements, accurately and timely, various other reports; reviewing and submitting payroll runs and accounts payable.

Essential Job Functions/Responsibilities

Provides assistance to the CFO as needed.

Prepares timely and accurate monthly financial statements; and other financial/statistical reports, as required by CFO.

Prepares and posts monthly journal entries to the general ledger, including accruals and deferrals, as necessary.

Reviews general ledger detail for accuracy and completeness.

Maintains and updates financial records.

Prepare necessary documentation for external accountants/auditors.

Provides support to the Accounting Clerk as needed – payroll, accounts payable, etc.

Responds to internal and external requests for information by accumulating and forwarding the requested information/documentation to the CFO for approval.

Reviews invoices and check requests for accuracy, proper authorization, and completeness of supporting documentation.

Assigns invoice account distributions in accordance with the chart of accounts.

Alerts appropriate management team members regarding late or missing information/documentation relative to completing the monthly and annual accounting processes.

Reviews payroll and accounts payable, and funds same via bank transfers; and submits them to the CFO for approval.

Closes out the monthly revenue cycle (from the EMR system) and records same in the general ledger.

Establishes and maintains positive working relationships with employees and other customers.

Always maintains the confidentiality of employee and organization information.

Performs other duties as assigned.

Position Qualifications

Experience and working knowledge of Microsoft products and QuickBooks (preferred).

At least five (3) years’ experience in general accounting functions; Home Health Care experience preferred.

Able to use IBM-compatible systems and equipment.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required.
