Responsibilities:
- Meet or exceed monthly collection, days in AR and Aging KPI’s
- Maintain the facility's accounts receivable system according to Brooks Rehabilitation's policy and procedures.
- Maintain, post and update the facility's accounts receivable; create and process Medicare, Medicaid, Hospice, Managed Care and private pay bills; resolve billing issues.
- Prepare and generate end of month close out reports.
- Initiate collection actions on overdue receivables
- Monitor & process credit balances monthly. Report Medicare credit balances quarterly.
- Advise the Administrator and Corporate Controller on accounts receivable matters.
- Maintains records and supporting financial transactions of the facility
- Implement and maintain the annual operating department budget, ensuring that operations are managed within the established guidelines.
- Select, train and evaluate employees and initiate personnel actions in accordance with Human Resources policies and organization philosophy.
- Prepare daily census and distribute to appropriate staff.
- Maintain residents' electronic financial files.
- Reconcile Petty cash and resident trust bank statements; prepare daily cash receipts and bank deposits; reconcile and replenish petty cash as needed.
- Prepare and distribute quarterly resident trust statements.
- Provide educational and training opportunities for staff members to ensure professional development and their ability to perform their roles to meet Key Performance Indicators.
- Approve bi-weekly payroll for staff according to Brooks Rehabilitation policy and procedures; reconcile daily attendance records.
- Practice positive resident relations by demonstrating Brooks Rehabilitation care and service standards to residents, families, guests and the general public.
- Assist in the implementation of new systems designed to improve workflow and enhance the collection/cash flow process.
- Develop Key Performance Indicators and Goals for all department staff and monitor these goals and provide feedback.
- Ensure that fee schedules and proration rules are up to date and loaded properly in the system.
- Monitor industry changes and alert appropriate team members timely.
- Report monthly to Network Operators regarding Accounts Receivable/Aging, Bad Debt, Cash Collections, and other Key Department Performance Indicators.
- Monitor Adjustments to ensure the system is updated and working properly.
- Practice all safety, loss prevention and infection control procedures.
- Maintain and protect the confidentiality of the resident information at all times.
- Other duties as assigned by Management.
Qualifications:
Required
- High School diploma required
- Two years’ experience performing all aspects of medical billing required.
- Two years of office leadership/supervisory experience required.
- Ability to effectively communicate with residents, families, supervisor, employees, governmental agencies, HMO's and other health related entities.
- Demonstrated skill with billing systems, computer and other office equipment.
- Willingness to work with the elderly.
- Prior experience in Skilled Nursing Facility billing and accounting
- Knowledge and experience Microsoft Office and Long Term Care accounting system
Preferred
- Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/Finance/Business Management preferred.
- Knowledge of Assisted Living Facility business practices and billing.
